If you have any feedback on how we can make our new website better please do contact us and we would like to hear from you.

Dear Parents

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and happy new year to you all.  On behalf of myself and the staff we would like to thank you for all the lovely cards and presents we received.  Very kind of you, thank you from all of us. I hope you all enjoyed the nativity plays and Father Christmas’ appearance.  I am pleased to tell you that we raised over £260 from the raffles during the nativity plays, so I have written a cheque for £300 for the Children’s ward at Basingstoke Hospital.  We have a couple of families whose children are regularly at the hospital for ongoing treatment, they desperately required play resources for the children.  Thank you very very much.

Learning Journals – thank you for your lovely comments regarding your child’s L.J.  we love to read them as it is very rewarding especially as a lot of work goes into them.  The comments will be typed up and put on our sharing tree.  If you have any further comments that you would like to share with us please do not hesitate to write them out so we can included them on our sharing tree.   Thank you.

Our term runs from Monday 9 January – Friday 10 February when we close for one week and reopen Mon 20 Feb – 30 March 2012.

Staff member – I am pleased to introduce you to Gemma Stilwell who will be starting with us this week.  Gemma has been a childminder for a little while and will be working at Lindford & Headley.

Students – we also have a couple of students who are helping out this term.  Please welcome Gemma Jenkins and Charlie Riddle who will be helping out at Lindford.  I would like to welcome all our new children starting at both Headley and Lindford.  Please make them feel welcome.  The only spaces I have now at Lindford is the odd lunch hour, unless of course anyone moves away, and at Headley there are only a few afternoons available.  This is until September 2012, I know it is a long way off but I need to know as soon as possible which sessions you would like in September.  I am getting weekly, if not daily enquiries for September 12.  Lindford is really really busy, I have 24 children staying with me and 26 on the waiting list wishing to start, so I would like you to give it some thought as to how many sessions you would like in September.  Headley is also very busy, 27 staying with us and 6 of the waiting list.  As you are already at Pollyanna’s you have first choice so please think about it and let me know ASAP.

Thank you.

Sunday 15 January – midnight is the final date to request a school place for your child.  So if you haven’t done so already please do so as soon as possible. The Holme Primary School, Headley have asked me to mention that they have another open day on Wed 11 Jan between 9 – 10 or 11 – 12 if you would like to attend.  Also if any parent would like some voluntary work, The Holme Primary school would be grateful.  Like all schools they require an extra pairs of hands to listen to children read, tending gardens etc., please contact school office if you are interested (I know because I read it in their newsletter).  Thank you.

NEG – Nursery Education Grant is available for children born between 01.9.07 and 31 December 2008.  I now have the forms at preschool so please see staff member so you can complete these on the premises.  They must be completed by WED 18 January otherwise an invoice will be issued.  Thank you. As previously mentioned fees have now increased (last time was September 10).  They are now £4.50 for under 3 per hour and £4.25 for over 3’s per hour.  Invoices are attached; please settle by Friday 20 January unless of course you are paying weekly.  Approx 70 children are NEG funded and unfortunately for me they do not pay me until beginning of Feb, but staff wages are due end of January ! So please pay ASAP to help me out.  Thank you.   Please can you pay either by cash or by bank transfer? (Details on invoice).  As mentioned in previous newsletters I am not now accepting cheques as they are costing me 74p each cheque I pay in.  I hope you understand this.  Please see me if there is a problem regarding this, thank you.

On Thursday 24 Nov – we had to close Lindford at lunchtime due to an Impetigo incident.  If you paid for your session you are entitled to a refund so please deduct it from the invoice or see Lesley x Thank you.

Illnesses – please do not bring your child to preschool if they are unwell, as I have said before, if your child needs Calpol they are clearly not well.  I know some parents work, but we too have to work and the staff do not want to catch bugs.  Thank you.

Lunchboxes – please can you include an ice pack in your child’s lunch box so the contents are kept cool and fresh.  Also please do not include too much food, the children only have 35/40 mins to eat.  When some children have 8/10 items in their lunch box they run out of time.  We encourage them to eat their sandwiches or savoury first, maybe fruit and/or yoghurt next, then crisps and/or choc bar and of course drink.   Please also name your child’s lunchbox / back pack on the outside.  Thank you.

Collecting children on time – please please can you collect children on time, especially during the lunch time changeover.  If a child hasn’t been collected from the morning sessions before the lunch time child arrives than the parent may have to stay so I am not over my registered number.  Thank you.

Nutty is our toy squirrel who travels home with the children.  Please can I remind you that Nutty can only stay 1 or 2 nights as he is taking a long time going to everyone’s house!  Thank you

Suitable footwear – please can children wear sensible trainers / shoes etc., to preschool.  Snow boots / welly boots / big ‘cat’ like boots are not really suitable when we are inside dancing / running around / moving around whilst children are sitting down etc.,   We have our own welly boots when children go outside and play in wet / mud etc.,

Items required – if anyone has any small toy cars or see them at a car boot sale, both settings require them.    Also both settings need some U bends and piping and guttering for our ‘builders’ also Headley need some small planks.  Also size 9, 10, 11 welly boots and 3-5 y old coats.  Thank you.  I know some of you go to car boot sales / charity shops; I am to repay you for the bits.  Thank you

Fit Granddad required – I need an odd job man if anyone knows of anyone to occasionally help out. Thank you.

Letter of the week – starts this week with N, please help your child find something beginning with the letter of the week, especially the squirrels.  Thank you.
